New Year’s Message

YEAR 2026 MESSAGE

It’s a new year, and as a farmer, I see it as a new season. New seasons demand intentional thinking and refined strategies. They require us to realign our vision, systems, and decisions so we can produce better results, yes. results that strengthen our farms and deliver sustainable returns on investment. It’s true to say that, every new season carries opportunity, but it also carries uncertainty. Change can come suddenly, through markets, weather, policy, or demand. That reality cannot be ignored. As the saying goes, opportunity meets preparedness. A wise farmer does not wait for conditions to be perfect. A wise farmer plans, builds resilience, and positions their business ahead of time. They cushion themselves against losses, adapt quickly when markets shift, and turn challenges into strategic advantages. While the unprepared panic, the prepared prosper. In every season, those who think like business leaders don’t just survive, they grow, they scale, and they conquer.

This new year, African farmer, bet on yourself. Bet on your capacity to think differently, act boldly, and grow your agribusiness beyond the ordinary. Choose to stand apart. Choose growth over comfort, elevation over familiarity, and transformation over tradition. It’s time to rewrite the narrative of farming in Africa, from subsistence to strategy, from survival to scale. Step into institutions, ask the hard questions, and seek knowledge relentlessly. Learn how to protect your farm, manage risk, and build resilience, not just as a farmer, but as a business leader.

Embrace new business models that expand your reach and unlock greater value. Research emerging markets for your produce. Network intentionally with fellow farmers, because when strategic minds connect, stronger and more innovative solutions are born. This season is not for playing small. It is for positioning, preparation, and purposeful growth. The future of African agribusiness belongs to those bold enough to invest in themselves and lead the change.
